Today the national Day of Silence was observed.

For those of you who don't know, the Day of Silence was organized by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in order to protest the bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students. Students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBT students.

To make sure I didn't get in trouble for not speaking to teachers, I had to carry a note around saying, "in order to support LGBT students for the Day of Silence, I will not be using my voice today."
I also wrote "NO H8" on my face and drew a transgender insignia on my hand. I thought it was a great opportunity to raise LGBT awareness. C:

Did any of you guys participate in the Day of Silence?

In high school, you can buy a name-tag-like-thing that says that you're participating in the day of silence, it only costs $1 and the teachers are not allowed to make you speak.
